How many days are included in the event reservation?To ensure a stress-free experience, our venue rental fee includes a three-day period—from Friday at noon to Sunday at noon (48 hours). This allows time for setup and a rehearsal, the wedding day, and cleanup the following day. We also offer one-day pricing for special circumstances. Please contact Kateri for pricing details.

What services does Kateri offer to clients?Kateri is a venue rental space, providing the property for client use without additional services. Clients are responsible for hiring their own vendors for setup, decoration, catering, officiating, coordination, and cleanup. Kateri does not provide on-site personnel to assist with the event. Due to Augusta County requirements a representative for Kateri will be on property during the event.

What amenities are included in the rental fee?The rental price includes access to the property, ceremony site, and venue grounds, as well as use of the Guest Wing (Sitting Room, Something Blue Bridal Room, and Guest Suite, inclusive of a full bathroom) for overnight occupancy (maximum of 2 guests). One night’s stay is included. Amenities include one outdoor propane heater (propane not included), gas fireplaces in the living/dining room, kitchen/den, and open sided pool gazebo, along with patio furniture, market umbrellas, two rocking chairs on the front porch, and five pool lounge chairs. Chairs and Tables for a party of 150 are included. Please contact us for package pricing.

What is your clean-up policy?Our clients typically choose to clean up the day after the wedding, with all cleaning to be completed by 12:00 PM. The client and their vendors are responsible for removing all belongings, decorations, and trash. For an additional fee of $1500, Kateri can provide clean-up services if arranged in advance through the contract.

What are your decorating policies?Open flames, including candles, fireworks, and Chinese lanterns, are not permitted at the venue. The only exception includes flames contained in a votive or vase. Send-off sparklers may be used outside, weather-permitting, and must be disposed of in proper receptacles. LED candles and bubbles are allowed. To prevent damage, nails, glue, staples, command strips, and screws are not allowed, but existing nails in the walls may be used for decorations. Fake flower petals, confetti, glitter, and similar items are also prohibited. Clients must provide their own ladders for decorating.

Is alcohol allowed at the venue?Yes, alcohol is allowed; however, an ABC license is required if you plan to serve any type of alcohol. Your caterer may already hold this license, but proof of licensure must be provided before hosting your wedding on Kateri property. If needed, you must apply for the license at least 30 days before your event. Applications can be found at https://www.abc.virginia.gov/.

When is the event payment due?A non-refundable 50% down payment and a damage deposit of $1000 is due upon receipt of the Rental Agreement. The final payment is due 30 days prior to event date.

Are there any additional fees beyond the rental fee?A $1000 damage deposit is required with your first payment. This deposit will be refunded after a cleanup inspection, provided the property is left in accordance with the contract and no damage has occurred.

Are your rates negotiable? Do you offer any discounts?Our rates are fixed and non-negotiable, and we do not offer discounts.

What payment methods do you accept?We accept cash, checks, debit, and credit cards. Payments made with a debit or credit card will incur a 3% processing fee. Additionally, a 5.3% sales tax will be applied to all event sales.

Does the venue rental include decorating or setup services?Decorating and setup services are not included in the venue rental.

What is the venue’s guest capacity?Kateri can accommodate up to 200 guests. In addition to the main house, the expansive decks and grounds provide ample space for social gatherings and outdoor festivities. For events with more than 150 guests, additional restroom facilities are required at the client’s expense. Rental trailers are available in the local market.

During which months do you host events?Kateri is open year-round. The most popular wedding months are during the more temperate seasons, as the swimming pool is open from May to October. From November to April, we welcome indoor and tented events. We’d also love to host your holiday party, corporate picnic, or family gathering!

Can you hold a date for me?Unfortunately, we cannot hold dates. Our policy operates on a first-come, first-served basis. The date is reserved for the first couple who signs a contract and submits the event deposit and damage deposit.

What happens if there is inclement weather on our event day?Kateri offers a beautiful home with an expansive open-concept living and dining area, as well as stunning outdoor spaces with breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains for your celebration. However, we do not provide tents unless included in a pre-arranged package. Clients are responsible for making any special arrangements in case of inclement weather.

Do we need to rent tables and chairs?Tables and chairs for a party of 150 are included. Additional chairs, as well as upgrades for chairs and tables, are available as add-ons.

Does the venue have a designated space for the bridal party to get ready?Yes, the weekend rental includes access to the Guest Wing, which features the spacious Something Blue Bridal Room.

Is event insurance required?No, Kateri provides insurance coverage for our clients.

Are we required to use specific vendors?No, we do not have contracts with specific vendors, but we are happy to provide recommendations. You are free to hire any vendor of your choice; however, they must carry liability insurance and provide proof of insurance to Kateri. Anyone serving food or alcohol on the premises must be licensed and insured—volunteers are not permitted to serve food or alcohol due to liability reasons.

Does the venue have a designated space for food service?Yes, the venue includes a kitchen for final food preparations. However, this is not a production kitchen for cooking. It serves as a staging and prep area, allowing for warming and serving pre-cooked food. Cooking is not permitted at the venue. You may opt to use up to two food trucks for your catering needs.

Is there a designated curfew for the venue?Yes, Kateri has a curfew of 10:00 PM out of respect for our neighbors. However, we offer one overnight accommodation for the happy couple in the Guest Suite.

Is there heating or air conditioning at Kateri?Yes, Kateri is equipped with both heating and air conditioning to ensure comfort year-round. Heating devices for outdoor spaces may also be pre-arranged through our wedding packages and a la carte offerings.

Is your venue wheelchair accessible?Though Kateri is designed for one-level living, there are several steps that may be difficult to maneuver. We encourage you to visit and see if the venue meets your accessibility needs.

Can we include our dog in the ceremony?Absolutely! Dogs are welcome at the venue. We kindly ask that you ensure proper cleanup of messes. Pets may not stay overnight. Please note that several outdoor cats reside on the property.

How far in advance should we book our event?Many clients book a year in advance, so we recommend securing your desired date as early as possible.
